As reported by Al.com, on September 9, 2016, a government inspector discovered a gasoline leak the Colonial gas pipeline in Shelby, County, Alabama. The gasoline leak was located at Colonial Pipeline's Line 1, an underground pipeline that carries 1.3 million barrels of gasoline per day from refineries in Houston to distribution centers across the Southeast and along the eastern seaboard. The leak is in rural Shelby County, Alabama, near Alabaster.
This leak has caused substantial damage to surrounding land and also seriously disrupted the supply chain for gasoline on the East Coast of the United States.
